Meet Your USA Triathlon Race Director Committee

The USA Triathlon Race Director Committee is a group of dedicated, local race directors across the country who are passionate about multisport and event organizing.

The Race Director Committee (RDC) provides feedback and innovative ideas to USA Triathlon that assist in helping race directors produce quality events, provide value, and ultimately grow the sport of triathlon. 

Meet the current members of the RDC!


Eva Solomon (Chairman)

Event Company or Race: Epic Races

Area of Specialization: Eva hosted the first-ever (and largest) women's triathlon in Michigan, organized the first-ever gravel triathlon in the country, and the largest open water swim in Michigan.

Fun Fact: Eva won a silver medal for powerlifting in the senior Olympics.

Steve Bingham-Hawk

Event Company or Race: High Altitude Special Events Management

Area of Specialization: Event management and race timing

Fun Fact: Steve has been the race director for the Salt Lake City Marathon for the last 12 years, is a twin and a proud dad of three young children: Yasmin, Danielle, and Solomon.

Alena Croy

Event Company or Race: TRI-OKC (Triathlon Club of Oklahoma City)

Area of Specialization: Alena is working to lower the barriers of entry to the sport, whether that's through a Friends and Family wave, free training, free bike clinics, adaptive divisions or our New Athlete Liaison. She is passionate about making multisport accessible for everyone.

Fun Fact: Alena is a three-time IRONMAN, including a finish in Kona. She chased tornadoes in college and has four children.

Bert Gallmon

Event Company or Race: Wolfpack Multisport

Area of Specialization: Bert and his team are leading the charge with youth programs in the Niagara region.

Fun Fact: Race Directing is not his full-time job! Bert works as a manager of training technology for Verizon and his degree is in music performance. His passion is race directing and is currently working toward making this a full-time job.

Brian Huether

Event Company or Race: Game On! Race Events

Area of Specialization: A USA Triathlon Level II Certified Race Director and the owner of Game On! Race Events with over 30 years of event experience.

Fun Fact: GAME ON!!!

Event Company or Race: Boston Triathlon

Area of Specialization: Michael specializes in complex urban event management with many stakeholders, athlete safety and experience, community impact and media strategy.

Fun Fact: Michael has worked with four different mayors of Boston over 16 years.

Carrie Panek

Event Company or Race: KOZ Events – San Diego Triathlon Series

Area of Specialization: Triathlons, Gran Fondos and runs.

Lance Panigutti

Event Company or Race: Without Limits Productions

Area of Specialization: Lance believes in learning from and incorporating elements from outside of the triathlon world. He produces every style of triathlon: sprint, Olympic-distance, half, all-women's, XTERRA, gravel and aquathlon, as well as road cycling, running, and cyclocross events. Lance says that the range of events allows race directors to keep innovating and improving.

Fun Fact: Lance has been involved in triathlon since 1996, racing as a junior and finishing his competitive career as a professional racing ITU in 2009. Since that time, skydiving, BASE Jumping, rock climbing, and events like Burning Man have been a passion and source of creative inspiration that he loves to bring into the endurance scene.

Katy Renner

Event Company or Race: Johnson County Park & Recreation District: Shawnee Mission Triathlon & Duathlon, JCPRD Kids Triathlon and Triathlon Camp, and the Kill Creek Park Triathlon, Duathlon, & Aquabike

Area of Specialization: Katy is the Race Director for several Kansas City Corporate Challenge events including a bike race (1500 participants), half marathon and 10K (1000+ participants), 5K (3000 participants), adventure race (500 participants), track meet (2000 participants), swim meet (1000 participants). She produces the event from beginning to end: conceptualize, market, recruit, produce, etc.

Fun Fact: Introducing kids to the sport of triathlon is Katy’s favorite part of her job. Summer is the busiest time of year for most race directors, but that is Katy’s favorite time of year because that's when the company produces its four-week triathlon camp and she gets to see all the new youth athletes being welcomed into the sport.

Sean Ryan

Event Company or Race: Door County Triathlon

Area of Specialization: Operational Planning, Finance and Budgeting

Fun Fact: Sean previously worked in banking, construction and fast food before becoming a race director. He draws on experiences from all three of these fields in organizing athletic events!

Craig Thompson

Event Company or Race: HFP Racing

Area of Specialization: Risk management, corporate governance, finance and accounting, MyLaps and RaceResult Timing

Fun Fact: Craig has organized over 200 multisport events of various distances in 24 years as a race organizer and over 1,000 races when adding in running, trail races, swimming, and other races, including a 17,000-participant marathon and half marathon. His new favorite activities are gravel biking and rucking and is organizing the first-ever gravel triathlon and duathlon in Ohio set for fall 2024.
